Fashion Design Summer Camp
Join me for 10 fun and exciting fashion design class.
Classes Tuesday and Thursday for an 1.5hr. All Ages are welcome, All Skill levels are encouraged! We will be learning how to sketch, operate and use a sewing machine, take measurements, and prepare for a fashion show. Students will also be participating in a s fashion show July 23rd. Classes are $35 a class or $250 if its paid before first class. |

Sew Fun Fridays are just Sip N Sew hosted by me, Volencia Simpson....Who says sewing can't be fun... each and every class we will have tasty snacks, drinks, good music, and the best part you learn how to make something different each class that's you could actually use. These are very simple projects that all levels can make...so if you never look at a sew machine don't fear 😉 I got you! Adult sewing class
September 3rd Week 1 : Sewing 101 - Learn the basic from threading, learning the machine parts, & sewing straight
Supplies: basic sewing kit
September 10 & 17 Week 2& 3: Patterns- Learn how to use commerical sewing patterns
Supplies:pillow pattern (e.g. MCCall 4123,Simplicity 1633) , about 1-2 yards of fabric, Polly Filled, thread, sewing kit
September 24 Week 4: Notions & Seams- Learn some sewing terminology and techniques
Supplies: 1yard of fabric, thread, and sewing kit
October 1st, 15th, and 22nd (no class on October 8th)
Week 5-7: Jogging suit construction- Learn how to make a hoodie and jogging pants
Supplies: jogging suit pattern (e.g Simplicity S9458, McCall8249), fabric and notions (check pattern for amount)

We switched it up a bit instead of a 5 week series we are now doing each week you join us will be based off the lesson that your interested in learning....
Week 1- June 4th Sewing Basic
Learn: Sewing machine parts, threading, tension, and sewing straight, corners, and curves skills development
Supplies: 1/2 yard of fabric and thread

Week 2- June 18th Patterns (Mask project)

September 11th- Back to School Celebration- Learning patterns... making a simple pencil pouch with zipper
September 25th- T-shirt fun day - Learn how to make a simple cute shirt

October 4th- Hair accessory day- lets make some bows, scrunchies, and headbands

Beginner Sewing Classes
Adults 18 & Up Kids 6 & up (every class will go over treading machine, measurements, & pattern symbols) February 20th- Sewing 101 ( learn machine and how to thread it. Intermediate Sewing Classes
At this time all intermediate classes will included all ages unless spots are taking. To register for theses classes you must completed beginner sewing classes or know how to thread machine. No supplies are included; you must bring basic sewing kit, fabric, thread, and all other supplies.

Revamp Fashion Sewing Classes
Have you ever wonder what to do with some of your favorite old clothes.....Come transfer them into a fashionably new look. These sewing classes will be Friday & Saturday. Perfect for people that just want to learn how to make outfit fast and quick....Perfect for Youtube sewing watchers that prefer in person help.... Perfect for the sewing community that just want to sew with a group of people. Classes starting Feburary 6th. They are $25 a class. You must bring your own materials so decorative things available like rhinestones, pearals, and any other scrap or donated materials. All classes are an hr long. Please call for details on materials. You have to check below for date, time, and project. Classes are subject to change due to class sizes. Class size 2-6 people.

Grab a friend & come join Sew Hooked Detroit to sew & design your own custom printed heart-shape pillow just in time for Valentine's Day.Looking for something fun to do to kick off your pre-valentines day festivities.....
Sew Hooked Detroit Invites you to our first Partake and Create Sip N Sew. This will be a fun and exciting event; with food, drinks, and you get to take home a gift created by you. This will be a 2 hour event with everything included in your admission. You will learn basic sewing skills, draft and create your own pillow, and design your own custom print to go on your pillow. If you have your own sewing machine please feel free to bring it along. This sewing project is suitable for all sewing levels no additional materials needed |
Sew In Detroit Classes Are Back....
A new set of Sew In Detroit sewing classes start January 2020
Sew In Detroit no longer doing the 5 week sewing session. Now the classes will be booked based on the projects that will be taught in that class but don't fear we will still having sewing fundamental classes as well. Classes are going to be offer on Mondays and Saturday dates and times are subject to change. To register please click on the link next to the class of interest if interested in more than one class just make sure you put that on your form as well.. (due to the maintenance cost for machine and thief we now charge additional $10 cost to use Sew In Detroit supplies and equipment)
Puffy Sleeve and Peplum T-Shirt
This class is back by popular demand.....come learn how to make the revamp fashion trend that lots have grown to love which is the puff sleeve peplum t-shirt. In this class you would learn how to do a puffy sleeve and a peplum. This class will be a hour and half class. Please bring additional fabric for sleeve and peplum (depending how long or fancy you want your shirt typically 3 yards would be more than enough.
Cost is $25 with your own shirt and $40 for souvenir Sew In Detroit shirt.

Material required atleast two yards of cotton or fleece or flannel fabric and half inch elastic.

Drawstring Bag
Learn how to make a cute stylish drawstring bag in just one hour. Each class you will learn or review basic sewing skills before starting project. Only supplies needed is a ½- 1 yard of fabric and a roll of string or ribbon. Cost $15

Sewing Fundamentals 101
This is the beginner sewing class. Learn everything you need to know how to be a good sewer. You will the parts of the machine, how to thread the bobbin and machine, take measurements, read patterns, etc. Will make a small pillow to take home as a gift. Class durations is hour and 15 minutes. Cost $25

My Jogger
This is a intermediate level sewing class where you would use what you learn in beginner sewing class to make a Jogging suit. Benefits in this class is that you will learn how to make a more difficult garment. Some sewing skills like how to put in a sleeve, zipper, pocket and so much more. Wow A Gown
This is my new favorite class of them all......register today to learn how to make a basic mermaid style prom dress like this picture in an hour or less. (do you accept the challenge). This class is $75 and guess what that includes the fabric and all other materials needed |

Different finishing like blind hems, rolled hems, and how to gather and other sewing techniques to help you become a better sewer. Join Us Sun. September 30th for our monthly Sip, Shop, Sew Series. This month its a cape blazer project where we will be learning how to transform our plain/original blazer to a trendy cape blazer.
All sewing levels are welcome.....simple and straight to the point sewing instructions....minimum supplies are needed. Supplies are your blazer you want to transform, optional emblessiments if you want to jazz you blazer up, and a sewing machine if you have one if not we have plently to provide. Beginner & Intermediate Sewing Classes
Our 5 Week Sewing Classes new session starts Saturday, August 25th.......
Beginner Sewing Class 11a.m.-12:15p.m.
In the Beginner classes you will learn how to operate your sewing machine, how to use patterns, take measurements, learn about sewing tools, and make some pajama pants.
Intermediate Sewing Classes 9:30-10:30a.m.
In the intermediate class we will expand on your skills you learn in the beginner class. You will learn other unique sewing techniques. Throughout this class you will create a sewing sample book to demonstrate those techniques you learned in class like a lap zipper, flat felt seam, a button hole, french seam just to name a few. Once the class is over you would have completed a nice hoodie and a book you can reference to help you become a better sewer.
Materials for this class will be discuss doing the first class. Sew In Detroit do have sewing machines available but we ask that you notify us in advance to reserve one for you
